Rally Point

Marine Corps Base Quantico

Greetings Dear Friends,

In many ways we sense that the present national, global, and human condition collectively foreshadow the times yet to come as foretold in II Timothy 3:1-7.  Hence, we find ourselves daily seeking God’s direction for how we can best serve Him in “…such a time as this…” Esther 4:14 .

While we have the Rally Point fully operational, the COVID 19 restrictions along with our  culture’s growing disregard for Biblical Truths, have resulted in fewer Marines availing themselves of our endeavor to minister to their body, mind, and soul.

We are reminded that God does not measure success by quantity, but quality. Therefore, we start each day asking the Lord for  a "Divine Appointment”.  Throughout this first year back in Quantico, He has fulfilled that request many times over.  Therefore, we greet every day with a great expectation of what the Lord has in store for us to do.

Ministry opportunities are presented as we interact with people in the highways and by ways  of the town of Quantico, as well as with those who come into the Rally Point.

In an effort to give God the preeminence in all things, we kept the Rally Point open on Saturday – 19 June – our 61st Wedding Anniversary.  I trust that the following account of the  day’s events will reveal how bountifully the Lord blessed us beyond our greatest  expectations.

About mid-morning we saw a young Marine and his wife having difficulty with the parking meter in front of the Rally Point.  We provided assistance and subsequently invited them in for refreshments and an explanation of our Ministry objectives.  They seemed to relate to the things of the Lord and she accepted Janet’s invitation to meet with her this week to study God’s Word together, We will endeavor to follow up with this couple ASAP!

As the aforementioned couple  were departing, a gentleman came in and raised his hands and exclaimed, “Wow, this place was such a blessing to me when I went through OCS in 2005.”  While he continued his expression of gratitude, Janet got out the 2005 Rally Point Log (Guest Book) and showed him his signature and comments. He immediately took a snapshot of it and remained for a great time of fellowship and a review of what the Lord had been doing in and through his life since we last met.  Following his commissioning he served 5 years as a Combat Engineer and attained the rank of Captain.  Shortly thereafter he received God’s Call to serve Him as a Navy Chaplain and subsequently completed the education and experience requirements and is currently serving as the Ship’s Company Chaplain on the USS Gettysburg, a Guided  Missile Cruiser—homeported in Norfolk, VA.

Soon after the “Chaps” left, a young Marine Lieutenant came in to continue a discussion  we had the previous weekend.  He has trusted Christ for salvation and though young, he is mature beyond his years as a result of the wisdom God has given him.  He lives out his faith in the midst of his fellow Marines and shares the Gospel when the Lord opens doors of utterance.  His participation in our ministry has been a source of great encouragement.

As we secured the Rally Point that evening, we thanked the Lord for blessing our Anniversary Day in a very very special way !

Thank you for your friendship, prayers, and vested interest in the Lord’s ministry here in Quantico and aboard MCB Quantico. You are a source of great encouragement to us.

As each day grows darker through the invasion of evil, may we who possess the light of God’s Word have the courage to let it shine – by life or by death.  May we be ready to “… endure hardness as good soldiers of Jesus Christ” - II Timothy 2:3, “…and shine as lights in the world – in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation…holding forth the Word of Life.” - Philippians 2:14-16.

May the Lod bless you  and use you “To Brighten the Corner where you are”…!
