"But now I come to Thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they may have My joy made full in themselves.  I have given them Thy word; and the world has hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.  I do not ask Thee to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil one.  They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world."-John 17:13-16
The Christian has a unique position in life. He lives "in the world" physically, but he is not "of the world" spiritually.  His resources do not come from the evil world system, but from the Lord.  While he is "in the world," he must live unlike the world because he must have a ministry to the people who are yet in the world.  We are "in the world" to win people "out of the world," and we live with the glorious expectation of being taken from this world when Jesus Christ returns.  Wiersbe, W. W. (1988). Prayer : Basic training (87). Wheaton, IL: Tyndale.

It is easy enough to get beat up by the world in which we live and feel wounded.  It is easy enough to become discouraged and slide off the highway of holiness into the ditch.  That is why Christ created the church (His body) so that we might be an encouragement to one another. It is our lot to be sojourners here behind enemy lines.  We are on a rescue mission to find our lost brothers and sisters!  Not only so, but to be partakers of Christ's joy while we are here! Along about here your mind will think, "that is easy for him to say!"  Grace is sufficient for our daily need!  The Grace comes to meet the need at the time of need.  As I wait for yet another ultrasound to see what is amiss within, I have a choice to worry and fret or to partake of His joy and enter into His Sabbath rest.  It is a choice I have (not because I have some great intellectual prowess) because Grace lives within!  I am empowered to choose!  So this is day 87 as a cancer survivor.  Because of Christ, my cup runneth over!  How full is your cup today?
