This is the prayer of a man in bitter grief, whose human nature cannot at present submit to the divine will. God’s long-suffering toward the wicked seemed to the prophet to be the abandonment of himself to death; justice itself required that one who was suffering contumely for God’s sake should be delivered. (Dr. Albert Barnes)
When I discovered Your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart's delight, for I bear Your name, O LORD God of Heaven's Armies. (Jeremiah 15:16 NLT)
Sometimes the greatest discoveries lay beneath our noses. We cannot always see them yet they are there. Perhaps we even are reluctant to look for the treasures available only to the eyes that have been given a renewed sense of eternal sight. Eyes healed from the afflictions of this world so that we may yet discover the words from all eternity that in the midst of trials deep lift the heart to an inexplicable joy. Look beneath the nostrils flared that you may find breakfast for the cockles of your heart. For on your forehead is the Name that is above all names, the Lord God of Heaven's Armies. Let joy be the sword that delivers victory in the battles of the day.
