Bless to us our extraordinary mercies; if the day come when these must be taken, brace us to play the man under affliction.  Robert Louis Stevenson - Vailima Prayers and Sabbath Morn

The armor of His peace surrounds me undisturbed so I need not be anxious for the Lord of Glory guards my heart.

We beseech Thee, Lord, to behold us with favor, folk of many families and nations gathered together in the peace of this roof, weak men and women subsisting under the cover of thy patience.  Be patient still; suffer us yet awhile longer; — with our broken purposes of good, with our idle endeavors against evil, suffer us awhile longer to endure, and (if it may be) help us to do better.  Bless to us our extraordinary mercies; if the day come when these must be taken, brace us to play the man under affliction.  Be with our friends, be with ourselves.  Go with each of us to rest; if any awake, temper to them the dark hours of watching; and when the day returns, return to us, our sun and comforter, and call us up with morning faces and with morning hearts — eager to labor — eager to be happy, if happiness shall be our portion — and if the day be marked for sorrow, strong to endure it.

We thank Thee and praise Thee; and in the words of him to whom this day is sacred, close our oblation.  Robert Louis Stevenson-Vailima Prayers and Sabbath Morn

I wake up mornings with my mind in a fog awaiting for the clarity of consciousness to arrive.  There are those moments of uncertainty before my mind can fully engage.  All the while the Lord Jesus Christ is in control of this universe. In my uncertainty he is certain.  Whether the day brings joy or hardship, He is in control.  The armor of His peace surrounds me undisturbed so I need not be anxious for the Lord of Glory guards my heart.  If trial and tribulation come the armor holds.  It is not a tender place that I must try to protect with human means.  It is rather the ramparts of is unfailing love that command the waves to "peace, be still."  He then deserves my endless praise for His goodness.  Help me Lord to live worthy of your calling!

"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything.  Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done.  Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand.  His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 NLT)

And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts.  For as members of one body you are called to live in peace.  And always be thankful." (Colossians 3:15 NLT)
